Why This Works: Focus on the Programs that Matter

February 8, 2024

If you were to survey a group of public media viewers and listeners to ask them their favorite program, you would get A LOT of different opinions.

However, one thing they would ALL agree on: news and public affairs programming is one of the foundations of public media.

That’s why this edition of Why This Works is looking at the Democracy package.

Democracy – An informed citizenry is a cornerstone of our democracy. And public television and radio news and public affairs programming provides balanced reporting and information that is accessible and available to everyone.

Whether it’s a local public affairs programming, a local news podcast, Morning Edition, or PBS news programs like PBS NewsHour, Amanpour and Company, Frontline, local stations need community support to allow for thoughtful, open debate of the issues. We believe the public media audience represents engaged citizens who want their community to be informed.

The eye-catching, patriotic graphics are sure to draw the attention of the recipient and remind supporters of what they help make possible by supporting public media.

While the package can be mailed anytime, we especially like it in the spring of a Presidential election year, during the heat of the election coverage.

You can see the new Democracy Classic here.
